How to care for your Bamboo Toothbrushes and Neem Wood Combs

Being a conscious consumer comes with its challenges. It starts with mindfully crossing out the conditioning we have received since the beginning of time that ‘more is better’ and the glorification of material abundance. This journey requires emotional, financial and lifestyle investments. To make sure your sustainable swaps last longer and serve you better, you will have to take care of them.

Our recently launched Emacity Essentials are not just aesthetically pleasing but are functional and durable. Here is how to care for your Essentials to make them last longer and use them fully.

Caring for your Emacity Bamboo Toothbrush

Your Emacity Bamboo Toothbrush is made of two materials; a Bamboo handle and Nylon-4 soft bristles. Since the handle is entirely compostable and the bristles are biodegradable; you would have to take due care. Here is how;

  • Place your toothbrush in a dry area

  • Enclosed toothbrush cups that collect water are not ideal

  • It is best to keep your toothbrush in an open-air toothbrush holder or any other dry area

Lastly, Bamboo is a natural woody material that will fade over time. The bamboo on your toothbrush may begin to appear lighter and faded with use. This is completely normal! You do not need to replace your toothbrush for this reason. However, the Indian Dental Association suggests changing your toothbrush at each three months or when the bristles start to flare, whichever comes first. You know who to come back to then!

Caring for your Emacity Neem Wood Combs

Your Emacity combs are made out of herbal neem wood. Neem wood combs do not create static, thereby stimulating hair growth and thus, will strengthen your roots. They are entirely compostable, thus you would have to take due care. Here is how;

  • Avoid soaking it in water for long periods of time since wood, typically, swells and eventually splinters if it is soaked in water for more than 3 minutes

  • Natural oil (such as olive, jojoba or coconut oil) works as a great substitute for cleaning wooden combs

  • After cleaning, wipe it off with a soft cotton cloth. You may even lay the wooden comb on a cotton towel overnight to soak the excess oil

  • You can also use an old toothbrush to clean between the comb.

Your Emacity Neem Wood comb should last for years if used properly. It is durable and long lasting. Maintaining it will only increase its life.
